TVS took over from Southern as the ITV franchisee in the south of England. The new contractor went on air on January 01 1982.
Television South was renamed TVS Television in the late-1980s following the company's purchase of MTM.
TVS Television lost its franchise in the early-1990s franchise renewals; the ITC claimed that the company had overbid for the licence. The franchise was awarded to Meridian Television which went on air on January 01 1993. TVS went into liquidation.
