RTÉ Network 2 launched four new ident animations on Friday May 31 2002. This was the second stage of a two-part presentation revamp for the channel. The first phase of the project saw the introduction of new promotional trail and programme holding caption graphics in January 2002.
From the start of September 2003, Network 2 became known as RTÉ Network 2. The only visible sign of change was the addition of the 'RTÉ' logo on promotional trail end boards. The announcer also now referred to 'RTÉ Network 2' rather than 'Network 2'. The channel's idents remained unchanged.
