November 2006 - Present
Miscellaneous [2]
More RTÉ One presentation.
In early-2008, the animation for programme holding captions was revised. These captions are always faded up from black; however, now, the initial animation of the foreground graphics is complete by the time the caption is fully faded up. The background animation is also shorter than before: the flickering lights put in only one very brief appearance now; the background remains black for the remainder of the eight-second sequence.
The programme title is now shown in a slightly larger font. The programme imagery in the bottom half of the graphic is also much more pronounced than before.
One issue with the previous format was that the video would 'freeze' just before the end of sequence. At this point, the RTÉ One logo suffered an aliasing-like effect. This problem has been addressed in the new sequence.
The revised style is only used in cases where a holding caption had not previously been produced for a programme between November 2006 and late-2007. Consequently, many of the regular fixtures within the daytime schedule - such as 'Dr Phil', 'Shortland Street', 'Doctors', 'Fair City', 'Home And Away' and 'The Afternoon Show' - continued to use the old format.
