Idents [1]
RTÉ One presentation was given a facelift on Monday September 01 2003. The new look launched just after 6pm that evening. It was introduced by a short sequence promoting RTÉ as 'Part Of Life' [right click here to download a video clip of the sequence].
The original set of idents would start off with imagery from Ireland of old before taking a quantum leap to the present day. One example was 'Windmill'. However, some of the idents were re-edited in early-2004, removing the elements from the past; others, such as 'PC', remained intact.
New idents added in 2004 - such as 'Beach' and 'Waterfall' - departed from the old Ireland/new Ireland theme, opting instead for straight scenic shots.
We believe our coverage of RTÉ One idents during this era is pretty comprehensive. We're aware of two omissions from our collection: 'Marina' - showing a collection of boats/yachts; 'PC' - a young man seated at a PC.
