Idents [1]
RTÉ One unveiled a new look on Monday September 04 2000. Over forty idents featuring Irish landscapes and people were created. The idents were phased in over a four month period between September and December 2000.
The three idents used between September 1998 and September 2000 - 'Leaf', 'Droplet' and 'Cross' - survived the presentation relaunch, but were rarely used; they were also now accompanied by a different soundtrack.
The 'Cross' ident was occasionally used in junctions leading into some of RTÉ's most popular home-produced programmes, such as 'The Late Late Show'. However, despite the fact that 'Leaf', 'Droplet' and 'Cross' had more or less disappeared by late-2000, images from these three idents continued to feature in many of the others.
The idents were played from both server and laserdisc depending on preceding and subsequent events.
