Above: RTÉ One ident [3]. A shorter, silent version of the ident was used in many junctions. Initially, this shorter version would begin with the 'ONE' logo almost fully resolved (as shown above). However, by the end of 1995, the short version was amended, so that the 'ONE' lettering and RTÉ logo were fully resolved when the ident appeared on screen.

The station clock would be screened for ten minutes before the start of programmes each day and before the main news programmes. RTÉ had a few embarrassing moments with the clock: it appeared on screen on a number of occasions either stopped or showing the wrong time; the hands had also been known to float across the screen on occasion. It was rather problematic to say the least. Perhaps that explains why it was ditched in early-1998.
