February 1991 - October 1997
Idents/Clocks [1]
Saturday February 16 1991 saw a new look for the BBC One globe. This one, designed by Lambie-Nairn, lasted through to October 1997. Subtitled programmes were now flagged by an '888' identifier in the top right corner. For the first three years of NICAM stereo programmes, a 'Stereo' indicator appeared in the top left corner.

The symbol was played out from Sony laserdisc.

Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the various English regions all had their own specially branded versions of the globe symbol.

Branding in Scotland had an air of inconsistency about it during this period. In the main, the channel was referred to as 'BBC Scotland on 1'. However, the announcer often shortened the name to 'BBC Scotland' or 'BBC 1'.
