Idents/Clocks [1]
In April 1964, the BBC TV service became BBC One, following the launch of BBC Two. The channel's symbol was a globe - an emblem adopted by the BBC TV service in September 1963.

This clock face design was to become a BBC classic, running on BBC One and BBC Two until the early-1980s. In fact, it was incorporated into the new homepage design for the BBC website, unveiled in December 2007.
The 'floating' globe symbol is believed to have been modified slightly during the summer of 1969. Do you have any photos or video footage of this symbol? If so, we'd like to hear from you.

The 'Pie Chart' [left] would appear between schools programmes, accompanied by music, to be followed by a countdown clock [right] which ran for one minute, also accompanied by music.
